A MAN accused of car-jacking and driving more than 100km/h over the speed limit during an alleged three-hour crime spree in Wollongong has been refused bail.

Douglas Alexander Robert Moylan, 32, did not apply for bail when he faced Magistrate Paul Johnson in Wollongong Local Court yesterday on nine charges.

All of the charges relate to a series of events on Friday, May 4.

Police allege Moylan car-jacked a 2003 Ford Ghia at the Illawarra Credit Union Stadium, Unanderra, about 7.45am.

According to police facts tendered to the court, the driver of the vehicle had parked at the stadium and left the keys in the ignition while he let his dog out of the back door.

Moylan allegedly pushed the driver, forcing him to stumble backwards, and entered the car via the driver's side.

A co-accused, Roselee Booth, allegedly entered the car via the front passenger's door.

Moylan allegedly drove the car out of the car park on to Waples Rd.

About 8.20am police allege they saw Moylan driving the stolen vehicle on Lake Ave, Cringila.

They initiated a pursuit and followed him to Flagstaff Rd and then Barina Ave, Lake Heights.

Police allege the vehicle reached speeds in excess of 150km/h in a 50km/h zone.

Moylan allegedly lost control of the car in Barina Ave and mounted a kerb, hitting a fence and a shrub before stopping in the front yard of a Barina Ave home.

Police arrested Booth at the scene but Moylan escaped on foot.

He was later arrested about 10.50am exiting a second suspected stolen vehicle in Lake Ave, Cringila.

Police allege Moylan stole that vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, from Church St, Wollongong, sometime between 9am and 10.20am that morning.

Moylan also has been charged with stealing a handbag from a woman who was walking along Stewart St, Wollongong, about 10.20am.

He allegedly used the Corolla as the getaway car.

When police arrested Moylan they found several pieces of suspected stolen jewellery and implements used to steal a car.

Moylan will reappear via video link on June 13.
