A DISQUALIFIED driver allegedly led police on a high speed pursuit at up to 140km/h along the Princes Hwy at Bulli on Wednesday night.

Robert Brian Roach was remanded in custody when he appeared briefly at Wollongong Local Court yesterday.

The 29-year-old Woronora man did not apply for bail.

Roach has been charged with six offences for having unlawfully obtained goods, stealing a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, dangerous driving and not giving particulars after a collision. He was also wanted by police on two warrants for other criminal matters.

Police allegedly saw Roach driving a Holden Commodore station wagon on the Princes Hwy at Bulli just after 11.30pm on Wednesday. Inquiries revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from a Woonona address in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Roach allegedly reached speeds of up to 140km/h during a police pursuit along the Princes Hwy. He also allegedly failed to stop after a collision with private property.

When he was apprehended, police allegedly found Roach in possession of a credit card which was suspected of being stolen.

The matter was adjourned to March 13.
